About me

Andrey Chmut - Grammy nominated Ukrainian saxophonist, composer and producer.

 

He’s worked with artists like Bob James, Candy Dulfer, Dave Koz, Jamala, and many more. Born in Medzhybizh, Ukraine, Andrey's love for music started in his father’s church choir, where a saxophonist’s performance at age 8 sparked his passion for the instrument.

He studied at the R. Glier Kyiv Municipal Academy and later earned a master's degree from the Kyiv Institute of Culture. In 2017, Andrey’s dream came true when he recorded with his musical hero, Bob James, on the track “Moving Forward,” which hit U.S. radio and stayed in rotation for over a year.

Andrey’s debut album Smoothability made waves, ranking in the top 10 Ukrainian albums of 2019 and gaining attention on the Amazon Smooth Jazz charts. Since 2023, he’s been touring the world with Bob James, including performances at the iconic Blue Note in NYC and Blue Note in Tokyo Japan He also contributed to Bob James’ Grammy-nominated album Jazz Hands.

In 2024, Andrey was awarded "The Best Ukrainian Saxophonist" for his outstanding contributions to music. Alongside his career, Andrey has been a church musician for many years, often expressing that his music is a gift from Jesus.

Andrey Chmut debut album "Smoothability", which was also released on Skytown Records (LA) was included in the top 10 Ukrainian albums of the year according to the Aprize 2019 award from Radio Aristocrats and 4 position for top 100 The best Smooth Jazz albums (Amazon)

Since 2014 Andrew works with Jamala and compose and produce songs for her / Вірю в тебе, Ти , Ціна правди....

Since 2023 Andrey touring with Bob James around USA and special moment was in July they did 8 shows in iconic “Blue Note” NYC

Andrey  has also been a church musician for many years
